YMCA Youth Advisory Committee
The Youth Exchange Advisory Committee (YEAC) provides support to the YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada Program (YEC) to ensure that the program is meeting participants’ needs. The YEAC provides a forum for YEC participants to provide input about program-related issues including but not limited to promotion, program/best practices, research and evaluation processes. The committee will meet in August and possibly a second time in the spring. Otherwise the committee works by email,and telephone.
The committee consists of 12 youth, 15-18 years of age who have recently (or are presently) participating in YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada. Terms are for 1 year renewable to a maximum of two years.
New committee member are selected by YMCA program staff alongside current committee members and be considerate of the need for linguistic, gender-based, ability and ethno-cultural diversity.
Candidates are asked to submit a letter of intent or short video application and are selected based on group composition criteria and ability to commit to meetings and calls. All candidates submitting an application are asked to participate in a phone call with a YMCA staff member and a current committee member to ensure that they are given an opportunity to further discuss their candidacy.
